Amanda understands the value of exceptional client service and the importance of a productive, dynamic workplace environment.

As an HR Manager at BDO, she brings dedication to her role, leveraging her expertise to build a supportive, people-centric culture. Although she briefly ventured into another opportunity, her admiration for BDO's HR group and dedication to its people's development and skills persisted. The camaraderie, coupled with the flexibility of BDO's hybrid model, proved to be the ideal combination for her career and lifestyle. Read on to hear about her journey back to BDO and what sets the company apart.

Throughout Amanda's career journey in HR, she came across the BDO banner a few times before deciding to join our National HR team. BDO had previously been a client of hers and she worked close to a BDO office that she passed by during her daily commute. This seemed like a sign, so she decided it was time to take what she learned to elevate her career in HR management and apply for a new job with BDO. The familiarity with the brand and the nature of work described mirrored her ambitions of becoming a leader in HR consultancy.

During the pandemic, the global landscape underwent a large transformation, and the demand for HR professionals witnessed a significant surge. Amanda decided to seize a new opportunity. It didn't take long for her to realize that she missed the cohesive community and environment that BDO had to offer.

"In HR, things aren't always black and white, so having a supportive and collaborative environment is crucial. The ability to flex my people development and business strategy muscles, are the main reasons I decided to come back to BDO."

"People often say that they stay or join a company because of the people, and I found that to be true in my case. I had the chance to work closely with business leaders, employees, and office managing partners. Over time, I formed close relationships that have been incredibly meaningful to both my growth and career,” she added.

A typical day at BDO for Amanda involves arming Partners and leaders with the information and education needed for them to make decisions for their practice. She stresses the importance of establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with her stakeholders, as this has been instrumental in her success.

"I've seen firsthand how these tight-knit relationships can help make working together much more efficient and seamless, and the same has been ingrained in the training for our accountants and their relationships with clients."

Between striking a balance when it comes to raising two young kids and working in a fast-paced environment, flexibility has always been key. “BDO understands the importance of work-life balance and they actively embrace flexibility and the hybrid work model. The BDO culture is truly something special and it's what draws many people back," she added. For now, Amanda continues to set the standard for building robust relationships in a hybrid, dynamic work environment by fostering communication and connection with the BDO team.
